Here are some examples of the frequently asked questions which we receive - and an indication of how we respond to them:
Church activities or events
We welcome these enquiries and aim to deal with them promptly. For those interested in the Mother and Toddler Group it is worth mentioning that we currently have (in November 2011) a very long waiting list - although you are still welcome to enquire. The people who deal with Mother and Toddler Group enquiries have said that they would prefer to contact you by old-fashioned telephone rather than new-fangled email so including your phone number would be helpful - though not essential.
Hire of hall
This is a common enquiry and the response will depend on who you or your organisation are. As a general principle, if we know you or your organisation and your event or activity is permitted by the Trust Deed governing the use of the premises and is consistent with or furthers the aims of the church or provides a service to the local community then we will favourably consider requests for the hire of the hall. Examples of this are the use of the hall as a polling station and by Horsell Care, a non-church-based organisation whose aims of serving the local community we are pleased to support. In other cases the following principles would apply:
- The hall is never available on Sundays, Wednesday evenings or Thursday mornings during term time.
- We would generally exclude commercial use so for example a request to use it for a car boot sale or similar would probably be declined.
- We do not hire the hall for use in a way which might reflect badly on what is primarily a place of worship or which might annoy our neighbours. Examples of this would include events where alcohol will be consumed, loud music will be played or gambling will take place.
- Enquiries about children's birthday parties are common. Each case is considered but generally if you are not one of our regular congregation then we would probably decline.
